Here’s why ELA Malta is “the school with a heart”

ELA Malta reopen their doors on July 6th 2020

Many schools around the world have been going the extra mile to help their members of staff and also their students during this pandemic…and at ELA Malta we went over and above our duties as Educators throughout this period too. Here’s a quick overview:

Food for students who were quarantined

We took it upon ourselves to keep in regular contact and even deliver food on a daily basis to those students who had to remain in quarantine in their apartments owing to the Covid-19 measures imposed by the authorities. Since we were the students’ only contact on the island, we felt it was our responsibility to take care of them in the best way possible during these trying times.

Study packs for students who had to shift their lessons online delivered directly to their doorstep to supplement their learning

At ELA Malta we did not limit ourselves to shifting our face-to-face lessons online, but also provided the students that chose to remain on the islands with bespoke ELA study packs for their particular level to complement the e-learning they were getting. We delivered these study packs directly to the students’ doorstep on a regular basis so they could maximise on their English language learning.

Assistance to help students repatriate

In the case of those students who had to try and make it back home before airports started closing down, we worked round the clock and took all the necessary measures to ensure that these students made it home safely and with as little stress as possible, given the situation.

Free accommodation for health workers including cleaning and water and electricity

We will forever be indebted to our health workers, especially to those who chose to leave their families and move into an apartment by themselves to safeguard those at home. At ELA Malta we did not forget our corporate social responsibility and we are proud to say that we were the only ELT school locally that provided shelter to these heroes for FREE in one of our apartment blocks. On top of that, we took care of their utility bills and also their cleaning, so that they could concentrate on what was most important….i.e. the health and wellbeing of our nation.

CPD training and support for all teachers

This will definitely go down as one of  the most difficult periods we can ever remember in our industry and we chose to support those who have continued to stick with us in these unprecedented times. We did this by giving our most precious asset – our teachers, continuous professional development to be able to transition smoothly to online tuition and also by sharing regular updates twice weekly to keep all teachers abreast of what we were doing to keep the ELA family close, as our school is already well-known for.
